Politicians need to find their role

Companies in energy related industries try to do as much as they can to drive energy systems transformation forward. This is true about Volvo, ABB, GE and many other companies.
The CEO of Volvo, Leif Johansson, has repeatedly in information material from Volvo declared that there is a need for political agreements between nations about the future fuels and technologies of the transportation sector. This is necessary in order for companies to start making large scale investments in new technologies for renewable fuels.
I have repeatedly here and in Global Energy Transformation, recounted the conclusion of Professor Ruttan that government investments are necessary to develop new general purpose technologies.
